Danbury's Bailey Vrazel holds all-time mark with 129 swipes.

Bailey Vrazel of Danbury (Texas) ended her high school career with the national stolen base record. But it turns out, it was just the beginning for Vrazel.

A three-time all-district player, Vrazel had 72 base hits as a senior while batting .692 with a .742 on-base percentage. She also blazed on the base paths with 129 steals, breaking the previous record of 117 by Lacey Clabaugh of Tonkawa (Okla.) in 2001.

Vrazel's stolen base career was just beginning, however. At Texas Western University, the shortstop led all of NCAA softball (Div. I, II and III) with 74 steals. She turned the trick again in 2012 with 75 steals. Those two totals rank among the top 10 all-time in NCAA Division II history. Her 247 career steals rank No. 2 in Division II history as well.

Vrazel leads a group of 70 high school softball players with 75 or more stolen bases in a single season. Six of them have over 100 steals.

The most prolific base stealer in national high school softball history is Kendall Beth Sides of Sumiton Christian (Ala.). Over five seasons (2013-17), Sides stole 401 bases (nearly 70 more than the No. 2 player on the list) and went over 75 stolen bases in a season four times. She had 107 in 2015, 99 in 2017, 82 in 2016 and 76 in 2014.
