Softball Recap: P.K. Yonge Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for P.K. Yonge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hawthorne Hornets a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Wave, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Mickinzi Anderson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Emma Mansfield was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sydney Corona was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

P.K. Yonge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .783. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

P.K. Yonge's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-12. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Hawthorne, they now have a losing record of 4-5-1.

As of now, neither P.K. Yonge nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
