Baseball Recap: Petersburg's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Petersburg dropped their record down to 11-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 6-1 to the Philip Barbour Colts. The match marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Philip Barbour, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

For Philip Barbour's part, Kale Wolfe made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Wolfe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kent Rowan, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

Looking ahead, Petersburg will be playing in front of their home fans against South Harrison at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Philip Barbour, they are taking a road trip to challenge Tucker County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
