Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holton). They came out on top against the Rossville Bulldogs by a score of 71-61 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Rylee Dick and Nora Burdiek certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Dick went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc on her way to 23 points, while Burdiek dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Dick's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Leni Lewis was another key player, putting up six points.

The victory was the third in a row for Holton, bringing their record for this year to 3-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Rossville, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Holton and Hiawatha will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Rossville, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jefferson West at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Rossville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.
