Preview: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. Southside Seahawks

The Lejeune Devil Pups will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Southside Seahawks at 5:30 p.m. Lejeune knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Southside likes a good challenge.

Lejeune scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Jones on the road to the tune of 90-59. With Lejeune ahead 40-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

It was another big night for Trevor Highsmith, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam'ron Myers, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.

Meanwhile, Southside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight defeat. They took a 79-64 bruising from Jones. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

The win got Lejeune back to even at 11-11. As for Southside, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-21.

Lejeune strolled past Southside in their previous matchup last Friday by a score of 71-52. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Southside's Joshua Armstrong, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lejeune still be able to contain Armstrong? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
