Softball Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Franklin Lightning
Roosevelt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 21-11 to the Franklin Lightning. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lightning this season, with their most recent loss being a 23-19 defeat two weeks ago.
Penny Thurston and Annabella Murphy stepped up to the plate in a big way. Thurston went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBI, while Murphy went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliot Neves, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Roosevelt's record now sits at 3-15. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 6-13.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Roosevelt is set to challenge their familiar foe Cleveland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Franklin will face off against rival Grant at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
