Evangel Christian Academy had won six straight games and Peyton Houston did his part to make it seven on Friday. The Eagles claimed a resounding 63-27 victory over the Haughton Buccaneers for which the team can thank Houston, who threw for 435 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 78.1% of his passes, and also rushed for 67 yards and one score on only seven carries. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

Demarkus Evans was Houston's top target, picking up 119 receiving yards and three TDs. Evans really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 92 yards.

Evangel Christian Academy's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Bennett Speer, Ashton Dawson, and Damari Drake, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Haughton's side was Speer, who picked up a sack and made 17 total tackles.

Evangel Christian Academy's record is now 7-1. As for Haughton, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evangel Christian Academy will head out to square off against Lafayette Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,002 yards in their previous games. As for Haughton, they will venture away from home to challenge Captain Shreve at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buccaneers will be up against the Gators' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.38 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
