Softball Preview: Ludlowe Falcons vs. Norwalk Bears
Ludlowe has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Norwalk Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Ludlowe is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Ludlowe is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Friday, just like they did against McMahon (and have done all season long). Everything went Ludlowe's way against McMahon on Wednesday as Ludlowe made off with a 13-1 victory.
The team relied heavily on Gina Solow, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Foley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Norwalk's offense. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 12-0 walloping at the hands of St. Joseph on Wednesday. Norwalk has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ludlowe pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Norwalk, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Ludlowe took their victory against Norwalk in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 12-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ludlowe since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
