Softball Recap: Central Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Huntley, Central was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They never let the Cary-Grove Trojans get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rockets have posted against the Trojans since April 19, 2021.

The result came thanks to Isabella Reed's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Central secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Allie Botkin, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The victory got Central back to even at 9-9. As for Cary-Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Central will face off against rival Dundee-Crown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Cary-Grove is set to square off against their familiar foe McHenry at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
