Basketball Recap: Lancaster's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Lancaster entered their tilt with Waxahachie on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 74-65 win over the Waxahachie Indians. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Indians are ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Waxahachie saw an underclassman step up: freshman Luckie Harbert went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. Those 22 points gave Harbert a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trae Nunn, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Lancaster pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for Waxahachie, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-9.

Lancaster will face off against DeSoto at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Waxahachie, they will challenge Mesquite at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Waxahachie is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.7 points per game this season.
