Basketball Recap: First Coast Christian Falls Despite Big Games from David Ellis Jr. and Tavarion Stevens

After flying high against Duval Charter last Tuesday, First Coast Christian came back down to earth. The First Coast Christian Knights fell 49-39 to the St. Joseph Academy Flashes on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Flashes: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the defeat, First Coast Christian had strong showings from Tavarion Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards, and David Ellis Jr., who posted 12 points and four steals. Ellis Jr. is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

First Coast Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for St. Joseph Academy, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

First Coast Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-40 victory against Covenant School of Jacksonville on the 10th. As for St. Joseph Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 70-49 win against Oak Hall on the 7th.
