Baseball Recap: Dayton Falls Short of Montgomery in the Playoffs

Dayton and Montgomery squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Dayton had to settle for second. They came up short against the Bears, falling 9-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Broncos in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.

Dayton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Avila, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Dayton's loss dropped their record down to 14-16. As for Montgomery, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10-2 record this season.

While Dayton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
