Volleyball Recap: Howell Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Mehlville

Howell faced Mehlville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Vikings fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Remy Walkowiak paced Howell's offense, picking up 13 kills. Walkowiak got some help from Thomas Thoman and his 23 assists.

Louis Auer was the offensive standout of the contest as he had six digs and three aces. That's the most digs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Charlie Sease also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Howell's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Mehlville, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

Howell has already played their next match (against Troy-Buchanan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Mehlville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against De Smet Jesuit on the 31st.
