Baseball Recap: University School of Jackson Beats Mckenzie for Their Fifth Straight Win

University School of Jackson had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the McKenzie Rebels as they made off with a 14-4 win. The Bruins' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Corben Howard made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Howard was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Max Kilburn was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Braydin Jones, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run.

University School of Jackson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.8.

University School of Jackson pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for McKenzie, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
