Basketball Recap: Riley County Takes a Loss

Riley County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 45-36 to the St. Marys Bears, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Falcons came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Bears are ranked 103rd).

Riley County's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for St. Marys, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riley County will take on Rossville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Marys, they will be playing at home against Silver Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Silver Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully St. Marys likes a good challenge.
