Soccer Game Preview: Woodland vs. Academic Magnet

The Woodland Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Academic Magnet Raptors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Woodland will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Barnwell on Thursday. Woodland put the hurt on Barnwell with a sharp 8-1 victory. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Warhorses recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Academic Magnet came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.6 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Iron Horses.

Academic Magnet's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those three games. As for Woodland, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Woodland suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Academic Magnet when the teams last played back in March of 2018. Can Woodland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
