Preview: Forge Christian Fury vs. Glenwood Springs Demons
The Forge Christian Fury will head out on the road to face off against the Glenwood Springs Demons at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Forge Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Glenwood Springs will be coming in after a defeat.
Forge Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 55-43 victory over Denver Christian.
Forge Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Hovis, who scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds. Jakan Sederwall was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Glenwood Springs' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to Lewis-Palmer 66-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Glenwood Springs got a solid performance out of Sim Wenger, who scored 26 points along with 8 rebounds. Wenger is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alan Hernandez, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Forge Christian's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Glenwood Springs, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 1-3.
Everything went Forge Christian's way against Glenwood Springs in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as Forge Christian made off with a 65-40 win. Will Forge Christian repeat their success, or does Glenwood Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
