Baseball Game Preview: Hasbrouck Heights Aviators vs. Hawthorne Christian Defenders

The Hasbrouck Heights Aviators are taking a road trip to square off against the Hawthorne Christian Defenders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Things were looking good for Hasbrouck Heights after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Emerson. The Aviators have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Ryan Cappello was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Mario Jimenez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jose Diaz, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hawthorne Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Clifton on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Defenders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Hawthorne Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Hasbrouck Heights, their record now sits at 10-6.
