Recap: Highlands Ranch Falcons vs. Rock Canyon Jaguars
The Highlands Ranch Falcons were the 53-47 winner over the Rock Canyon Jaguars when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Highlands Ranch fell 76-65 to Rock Canyon on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Highlands Ranch lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ezra Simonich. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with three steals. Simonich continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tori Baker, who scored 17 points.
Leading Rock Canyon to victory were Brooke Harding and Sarah Davis. Harding scored 20 points along with four steals, while Davis scored 23 points along with three steals. Harding is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Pillsbury, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Highlands Ranch has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Rock Canyon, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highlands Ranch will take on ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. ThunderRidge is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Rock Canyon, they will play host again and welcome Douglas County, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Rock Canyon is ranked 12th).
