Baseball Game Preview: Fullerton Indians vs. San Clemente Tritons

The Fullerton Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the San Clemente Tritons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Fullerton is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since March 19th on Friday. They fell just short of Tustin by a score of 5-3. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fullerton got a good showing from Caden Wise, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Fullerton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Robinson, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, San Clemente waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 5-1.

Luke Acuna spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

On the hitting side, San Clemente let Cade Cerone and Kaden Raymond run wild. Cerone went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Raymond got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double. Cerone has become a key player for San Clemente: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise.

San Clemente pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fullerton, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7-1.

Fullerton couldn't quite finish off San Clemente in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 and fell 2-0. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
