Basketball Recap: Fordland Comes Up Short

Fordland was the 56-48 winner over Norwood when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fordland Eagles fell 45-33 to the Norwood Pirates on Thursday.

It was another big night for Gentry Davault, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards for Norwood. Those 16 points gave Davault a new career-high. Autumn Gunter was another key player, putting up seven points.

Fordland's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-4. As for Norwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Fordland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-34 win against Greenwood on the 17th. As for Norwood, they will be taking part in a tournament against Waynesville at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
