Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Early College Takes a Loss

Blue Ridge Early College was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were dealt an 88-25 defeat at the hands of the Hiwassee Dam Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 541st, while the Eagles are ranked 149th).

Despite the loss, Blue Ridge Early College saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooklyn Kenney posted 22 points and three steals. That was a full 88% of Blue Ridge Early College's points, marking the 14th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Blue Ridge Early College's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Hiwassee Dam, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Highlands the next time they take the court. Hiwassee Dam will host Highlands at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Blue Ridge Early College will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th.
