Basketball Game Preview: Wheeler County Bulldogs vs. Bryan County Redskins + Official Tickets

The Wheeler County Bulldogs and the Bryan County Redskins will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wheeler County has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Bryan County will arrive with seven straight victories.

On Saturday, Wheeler County had to suffer through a 53-24 loss at the hands of Jeff Davis. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Wheeler County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nikita James, who posted eight points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Derrionna Madison, who earned three points in addition to 11 boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bryan County beat Screven County 69-63 on Tuesday.

Bryan County's win came from a few key players Wheeler County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Layla Mincey, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 21 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Mikell, who went 7-for-15 en route to 18 points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Wheeler County's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Bryan County, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Wheeler County took a serious blow against Bryan County in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 69-34. Thankfully for the Bulldogs, Ashanti Brown (who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
