Basketball Recap: Wichita Christian Comes Up Short

Wichita Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Victory Christian Academy Patriots and fell 79-24. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1399th, while the Patriots are ranked 602nd).

Victory Christian Academy found their leader in freshman Jaylen Donald, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 22 points and three steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for Donald. Layton Huddleston was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 14 points along with five boards and three steals.

Wichita Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Victory Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wichita Christian will square off against Bethesda Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will face off against Nazarene Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Nazarene Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
