Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Sierra Vista's 13th in Last 15 Outings

Sierra Vista won the last time they faced Eldorado and things went their way on Monday too. The Mountain Lions came out on top against the Firehawks by a score of 7-2.

Nathan Mayorga looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dillon Smith was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Alvarado, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Sierra Vista has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Eldorado, they dropped their record down to 11-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Sierra Vista will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Firehawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
