Baseball Recap: Manchester Wins Going Away Against Caston

15 must be Manchester's lucky number: they beat Caston with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Squires were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Comets. The Squires have beaten the Comets the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Comets has come to flipping the script.

Cody Carroll made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Carroll was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Manchester got a massive performance out of Reiss Gaerte, who scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those five runs gave Gaerte a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cale Bennett, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Manchester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caston only posted an OBP of .387.

Manchester's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Caston, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manchester will welcome Tippecanoe Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Caston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Argos at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.25 runs per game on average), something the Comets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
