Softball Recap: Cox Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cox waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Salem Sundevils. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 7-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Ella Athey-Stapleton's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Cox saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Peterson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Peterson has posted since back in May of 2024.

Cox hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salem struck out 11 times.

Cox pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Cox and Salem will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Falcons see the field they'll take on Princess Anne at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Salem, their break will end when they face Tallwood at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
