Softball Recap: Three Rivers Beats Refugio for Their Third Straight Win

Three Rivers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Refugio Bobcats as they made off with a 13-2 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.

Alyson Gomez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Emma Alvarado was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Kylee Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Three Rivers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Three Rivers' win bumped their record up to 5-1-1. As for Refugio, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Three Rivers will host Stockdale at 1:20 p.m. on Thursday. Three Rivers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Stockdale's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Refugio, they are taking a road trip to take on Three Rivers at 2:40 p.m. on Thursday.
