Baseball Game Preview: Bonita Bearcats vs. Claremont Wolfpack

For the second straight game, Bonita will face off against Claremont. Bonita will square off against Claremont at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bonita will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Bonita blew Claremont out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Claremont got their revenge. Bonita fell just short of Claremont by a score of 11-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bearcats, who until this matchup were averaging 3.42 runs allowed.

For Claremont's part, Ramzey Farah was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Farah has become a key player for Claremont: the team is 3-0-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Cory Smykla also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Claremont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. The last time their batting average was this high was since the start of last season.

Claremont's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-5-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.67 hits in those games compared to only 4.38 in the others. As for Bonita, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.
