Basketball Recap: Royal Comes Up Short

After soaring to 58 points the game before, Royal was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were dealt an 84-26 loss at the hands of the Friendswood Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1185th, while the Mustangs are ranked 34th).

When it comes to explaining why Royal lost, don't look at Braylon Reado. Despite the final result, he posted six points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Rodriguez, who earned five points.

Even though they lost, Royal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Royal's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Friendswood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Royal wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-52 victory against Columbia on the 6th. As for Friendswood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-57 win against St. Thomas Catholic on the 6th.
