Basketball Game Preview: Gilbert Indians vs. South Aiken Thoroughbreds

The Gilbert Indians will square off against the South Aiken Thoroughbreds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilbert has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 6.

Gilbert is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Northside Christian Academy two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Gilbert lost 66-44 to Northside Christian Academy. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-16.

Meanwhile, South Aiken took a blow against Josey on Saturday, falling 50-23. While losing is never fun, the Thoroughbreds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 108th in South Carolina, while the Eagles are ranked 21st in Georgia).

Gilbert will have to keep a close watch on Tekinia Dixon and Jasmine Epps, a pair of players who had a big impact on South Aiken's prior game. Dixon posted ten points and five rebounds, while Epps earned six points and seven rebounds. Dixon is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

South Aiken has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Gilbert, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Gilbert didn't have too much breathing room in their game against South Aiken when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 52-48 victory.
