Basketball Game Preview: Twiggs Academy Trojans vs. St. George's Athletes

After both having extra time off, the Twiggs Academy Trojans and the St. George's Athletes will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Twiggs Academy has now lost seven straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 30.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 99-44, which was the final score in Twiggs Academy's tilt against Milledgeville Athletic Club last Thursday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. George's, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped last Thursday as they easily beat John Hancock Academy 70-13. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-10.

St. George's pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Twiggs Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Twiggs Academy suffered a grim 68-44 defeat to St. George's in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
