Basketball Game Preview: Bedford North Lawrence Stars vs. Columbus North Bull Dogs

The Bedford North Lawrence Stars will be taking part in a tournament against the Columbus North Bull Dogs at 12:45 p.m. on Friday.

Bedford North Lawrence lost 60-37 to Fort Wayne Northrop on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Bruins are ranked 28th).

Meanwhile, Columbus North waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 62-33 victory over the Olympians. The contest marked the Bull Dogs' most dominant win of the season.

Columbus North found their leader in sophomore Kaylie Harmon, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 17 points and three steals. That's the most steals Harmon has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Johnson, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points.

Columbus North pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Bedford North Lawrence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Bedford North Lawrence came up short against Columbus North in their previous meeting back in February of 2017, falling 49-45. Can Bedford North Lawrence avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
