Recap: Rio Grande City Rattlers vs. San Benito Greyhounds
It was a good run, but the Rio Grande City Rattlers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of San Benito by a score of 31-28. Rio Grande City was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as San Benito apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
San Benito's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Angelina Reyes led the charge by scoring 7 points along with 9 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Rodriguez, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Rio Grande City's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for San Benito, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rio Grande City will be home for the holidays to greet Nixon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Benito will be home for the holidays to greet Mission at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mission will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 698th, while San Benito is ranked 299th).
