Preview: Sapulpa Chieftains vs. Glenpool Warriors

The Sapulpa Chieftains will be playing in front of their home fans against the Glenpool Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sapulpa is not getting complacent, as they come into the match much higher ranked than Glenpool in Oklahoma (Sapulpa is ranked 44th, while Glenpool is ranked 132nd).

Sapulpa fell victim to Del City's stalwart defense two Fridays ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 30-0 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. That means Sapulpa has now suffered back-to-back defeats.

Marco Smith put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 113 yards. Smith is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Glenpool at home against Memorial two Fridays ago as the team secured a 49-20 win.

Rueger Tatum and DaMicah Woods were among the main playmakers for Glenpool as the former threw for 74 yards and two touchdowns and the latter rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns. Judah Byrd was another key contributor, picking up 56 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

With Sapulpa's loss and Glenpool's victory, both teams now sport identical 3-3 records.

Everything came up roses for Sapulpa against Glenpool in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 61-19 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Glenpool's Brayden Nelson, who rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Sapulpa to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
