Recap: Lewis County Minutemen vs. Fairmont Senior Polar Bears
The Lewis County Minutemen couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a rough 82-40 loss at the hands of Fairmont Senior. Lewis County lost against Fairmont Senior in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 95-38 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Lewis County lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is Ben Putnam. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Anderson, who scored 3 points.
Lewis County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Fairmont Senior, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Lewis County will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fairmont Senior, they will head out on the road to face off against Chapmanville Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chapmanville Regional and Fairmont Senior are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
