Football Game Preview: Edgewood Bulldogs vs. Quitman Bulldogs

Edgewood is a perfect 3-0 against Quitman since October of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Edgewood will look to defend their home field against Quitman at 7:30 p.m. Edgewood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Quitman likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, Edgewood made easy work of Prairiland and carried off a 35-13 win. The Bulldogs have beaten the Patriots the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Patriots has come to flipping the script.

Edgewood can attribute much of their success to Trevor Golightly, who threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns while completing 95.7% of his passes, and Lucas Pippin, who gained 200 total yards and two touchdowns. Pippin really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. A healthy portion of Golightly's aerial production (106 yards to be exact) went to Tony Smith, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, Quitman played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 35-14 to Harmony. The Bulldogs were down 35-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Quitman now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Edgewood, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Edgewood against Quitman in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-14 victory. In that contest, Edgewood amassed a halftime lead of 28-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
