Soccer Game Preview: Palmetto vs. South Dade

The Palmetto Panthers will challenge the South Dade Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Palmetto is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Lourdes Academy just ended the team's six-game winning streak last Thursday. They fell 3-1 to Lourdes Academy. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Catalina Restrepo, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only South Dade walked away with it. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was South Dade who was credited with the victory on Thursday. South Dade got it done in the shootout by posting one goals to Coral Gables' zero. Winning may never get old, but the Buccaneers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Palmetto's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4-1. As for South Dade, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season.

Palmetto took their win against South Dade in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0. Will Palmetto repeat their success, or does South Dade have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
