Football Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Millbrook

Millbrook strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past the Broughton Capitals to the tune of 42-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Capitals are ranked 108th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millbrook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryson Gray, who threw for 214 yards and three TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes. Brilison McCullers was another key player, gaining 94 total yards and two touchdowns.

Millbrook's run defense was locked in: Broughton could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Quinton Cypher for the heroic effort on defense: he. Millbrook hasn't allowed more than 4.2 yards per carry in three consecutive games.

Millbrook didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cypher and Noah Ragland. Cypher has been hot for a while, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last 20 times he's played.

Millbrook's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Broughton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Millbrook has already played their next matchup, a 49-0 victory against Enloe on the 17th. As for Broughton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 42-14 win against Wakefield on the 17th.
