Softball Game Preview: Sundown Roughnecks vs. Stamford Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Sundown will face off against Stamford. The Roughnecks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Sundown is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

Sundown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Stamford 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Roughnecks have posted since February 27th.

Destiny Garza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Brynly Gregory was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two triples and two runs. Another player making a difference was Nayleen Morin, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Sundown pushed their record up to 27-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Stamford, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 23-6 record.
