Football Recap: Sto-Rox Takes a Loss

Sto-Rox played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the South Allegheny Gladiators, falling 64-14. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 534th, while the Gladiators are ranked 114th).

South Allegheny's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drew Cook led the charge by picking up 128 receiving yards and two scores. Cook's longest reception was for an incredible 79 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrone Claytor, who rushed for 50 yards and a pair of TDs.

Sto-Rox's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for South Allegheny, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sto-Rox will welcome Waynesburg Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Allegheny, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Steel Valley at 7:00 p.m. The Gladiators' defense better be ready for this one: the Ironmen have averaged an impressive 26.4 points per game this season.
