Basketball Game Preview: Walton Raiders vs. Cherokee Warriors

The Walton Raiders will face off against the Cherokee Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Walton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Cherokee likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Walton was fully in charge, breezing past Marietta 63-21. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Cherokee didn't have too much trouble with North Cobb on Thursday as they won 55-41. Given Cherokee's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while North Cobb is ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Walton's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Cherokee, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Walton was able to grind out a solid victory over Cherokee when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 58-48. Will Walton repeat their success, or does Cherokee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
