Recap: Y Yuma vs. Sidney Red Raiders
The Y Yuma had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.6 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They snuck past Sidney with a 67-62 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Y found their leader in underclassman Brody Sheffield, who scored 28 points. Sheffield has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Jonathan Thomson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Y's win was their 18th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Sidney, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-1.
Y and Wray will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Wray focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday. As for Sidney, they will square off against Alliance at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Alliance will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Sidney is ranked 14th).
