Softball Game Preview: Jack Britt Buccaneers vs. South View Tigers

Jack Britt is 0-10 against South View since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Buccaneers will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Jack Britt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.

Jack Britt will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Seventy-First on Wednesday. The Buccaneers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Falcons a 19-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

JoAnna Rone was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Ta'Niyah Turner was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Jack Britt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, South View fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Cape Fear on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colts.

JORDYNN PARNELL was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out 16 batters over eight innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, DESTINY SHOULARS made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Jack Britt's record now sits at 12-9. As for South View, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Jack Britt might still be hurting after the 14-5 loss they got from South View in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Buccaneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
