Baseball Game Preview: Viewmont Vikings vs. Roy Royals

The Viewmont Vikings will head out to face off against the Roy Royals at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Viewmont is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Viewmont and Bountiful have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Vikings came out on top against the RedHawks by a score of 5-1. Five seems to be a good number for the Vikings as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Viewmont's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Beckham Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Kade Marriott, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Roy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Bonneville on Friday.

Connor Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

Viewmont's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Roy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.

Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Viewmont has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. However, it's not like Roy struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Viewmont's way against Roy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Viewmont made off with a 16-0 win. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
