Softball Recap: Southside Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Southside waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Hokes Bluff Eagles with a sharp 9-2 victory. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lauren Mckee and Rylann Shaw did most of the damage at the plate: Mckee went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles, while Shaw scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. What's more, Shaw posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Houston, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Southside pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hokes Bluff, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.

Looking ahead, Southside will welcome Glencoe at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Southside is facing Glencoe at the right time seeing as Glencoe is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Hokes Bluff, they will venture away from home to face off against Etowah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
