Softball Game Preview: Evansville Memorial Tigers vs. Vincennes Lincoln Alices

Evansville Memorial is 9-1 against Vincennes Lincoln since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Alices at 11:00 a.m. Evansville Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Evansville Memorial duked it out with Evansville Mater Dei on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Wildcats. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Brianna Canaan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mallory Wollenmann, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Teagan Davis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, while it was Vincennes Lincoln who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Castle who put up more. The Alices took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Alices have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Evansville Memorial's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Vincennes Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Evansville Memorial skirted past Vincennes Lincoln 6-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
