Baseball Recap: Coral Springs Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Coral Springs's offense. They fell just short of the Nova Titans by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Colts were not able to get on the board.

Angelo Painter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Coral Springs saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Guthrie, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Coral Springs and nudges their season record down to 6-7. As for Nova, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coral Springs will face off against Bonita Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bonita Springs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Coral Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nova, they will take on Mater Lakes Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nova hasn't scored more than a single run for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
