Football Game Preview: Llano Yellowjackets vs. Poteet Aggies

The Llano Yellowjackets will square off against the Poteet Aggies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Llano has six straight victories, Poteet has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Llano made easy work of Ingram Moore and carried off a 34-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won eight games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Llano's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cash Lynch, who picked up 207 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Lynch showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Landers, who rushed for 135 yards and one score while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.

Llano's run defense was locked in: Ingram Moore could only muster 1.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Gavin Hays for the heroic effort on defense: he. Llano's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.3.

Llano's defense didn't let Logan Spalding, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Mario Hernandez was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

Meanwhile, Poteet took a blow against Hondo on Friday, falling 58-22. While losing is never fun, the Aggies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 904th, while the Owls are ranked 223rd).

Poteet's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Llano, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
