Softball Recap: Madras White Buffaloes vs. Gladstone Gladiators

Madras had lost nine straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-14 to make it ten. They lost 11-1 to the Gladstone Gladiators. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Gladiators this season, with their most recent defeat being a 16-0 loss back in April.

As for Gladstone, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Gladstone's part, Ashlynne Franssen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Franssen has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Natalee Marvin was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one double. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Caroline Ashby, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.
